Model Railroad Layouts in March 2022 Trackside MR Digital Download
Explore a Giant Z Scale Railroad
Modelers who enjoy the smaller scales will love this month’s magazine: we tour the Golden ~ Blackhawk & Central City, a large, freelanced Z scale railroad built by David George of Spring, Texas. You’ll learn the behind-the-scenes process of David’s scenery techniques (and see how good scenery can look in 1:220 scale) and see many photos of the 14.5 x 9 foot (4.42 x 2.74 meter) layout. The G~B&CC used to be a traveling layout. Nowadays, it lives in Tomball, Texas, where you can visit to see it for yourself. The tour includes the story of how David got into modeling, how the G~B&CC is constructed, and a video interview with David on site (plus railfanning footage). A track plan of the layout is included.
Expanding on Your Hobby Knowledge by Attending a Convention
Greg Wright, a Master Model Railroader from western Washington who enjoys attending conventions, shares his take on the tours, contests, clinics, vendors, and camaraderie he enjoys at them and shares some tips for hobbyists considering attending.
Building the Hangman Creek’s Derelict Boxcar Shed
We constructed and weathered the Hangman Creek Diorama Company’s Derelict Boxcar Storage Shed this month and share the project along with photos. It is beautifully detailed and easier to complete than it looks. Check out our boxcar in the ezine. You can also take a look at the kit here: Hangman Creek Derelict Boxcar
